Stomatitis Types and Causes
Stomatitis is a broad term for someone who has an inflamed and sore mouth. Stomatitis can be extremely painful and disrupt the ability to eat, talk, and sleep well. It can be found anywhere in the mouth; cheeks, gums, tongue, lips, and even the palate.
There are several different types of Stomatitis:
Canker Sores: This is a single sore, it is pale or yellow in color and will have a red outer ring around it. This type of ulcer can also be found in clusters in the mouth most often on the cheeks, tongue or inside the lip.
Cold Sores/Fever Blisters: These are fluid-filled sores that will pop up around the lips. Very rarely you will find a cold sore on the gums or the roof of the mouth. This type of sore will crust over with a scab. You can usually feel a fever blister coming on because the area that it will pop up in will begin to tingle, become tender, and possibly burn. Mouth Irritation: Irritation can happen several different ways. Biting the cheek, tongue, or lip accidently will cause the mouth to become sore and inflamed. If you have braces or other dental devices, or broken tooth can result in irritating the mouth as well.
Burning your mouth from hot food or drinks can cause blistering on the palate. Gum disease, autoimmune diseases, and medications can also cause the mouth to become irritated.
There are ways you can treat cold sores, canker sores, and mouth irritations. Consult your doctor or dentist for further information. Treatment for Fever Blister Linwood NJ 08221
